Fields of Mistria Multiplayer & Co-op: Is It Available?
Does Fields of Mistria have co-op or multiplayer? The official build is single-player only. See what the Steam page lists and what the community mod does.
Fields of Mistria does not have co-op or multiplayer. The official game is a single-player farming and life sim. If you were hoping to share a farm with a partner or friend the way you can in some other farming games, that is not part of the released game.
This page answers that question quickly, explains what the store listing actually says, and covers the one unofficial workaround players mention, so you can decide whether it is worth trying.
What the official game supports
The Fields of Mistria Steam store page lists Single-player, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing among its features. It does not list Online Co-op, LAN Co-op, Shared/Split Screen, or any other multiplayer feature. That listing is the clearest official signal of what the game supports.
The game left Early Access with its full release on August 5, 2026, two years after Early Access began. Multiplayer was not added in that release. NPC Studio’s official FAQ and its 1.0 update FAQ do not mention multiplayer at all, so there is no official announcement of co-op to point to.
In practice, that means:
- No online co-op. You cannot join a friend’s farm through Steam.
- No local or split-screen co-op. Two players cannot share one screen.
- One farmer per save. Your farm, relationships, and town progress belong to a single player.
The unofficial multiplayer mod
A community mod called Fields of Multiplayer lets players connect to each other’s saves. It is a fan project, not an NPC Studio feature, and its source repository describes how it works:
- It is installed through MOMI (Mods of Mistria Installer), the community mod loader.
- It needs a separate relay program running alongside the game, because the mod itself can only exchange data through the game’s save folder.
- The host’s connection must be reachable by the joining player, so it is easiest on the same network.
Treat it as an experiment rather than a co-op mode. Some world progress may not stay in sync between players, it is not split-screen, and any game update can break it. Back up your save folder before trying it, and only download the mod and relay from the author’s own pages.
If you want to play “together” without mods
If you would rather stay on the official version, a few low-risk options still make the game social:
- Plan the same layout side by side. Each player builds their own farm, then compares routes and designs. The Fields of Mistria farm layout planner is useful for sketching a shared idea before you both build it.
- Trade farm ideas. Browse the farm layout ideas collection together and each pick a style to adapt in your own save.
- Take turns on one save. Pass the controller during a play session. It is still a single-player game, but you can share decisions about the farm.
Coop vs. co-op
Many players land here after searching “Fields of Mistria coop”. If you were actually looking for the animal building that houses chickens, ducks, rabbits, and capybaras, see the Fields of Mistria coop guide for sizes, costs, and placement.
